London Road Designs is the work of me, Simon Thomas. It's grown out of a hobby and given me more excuses to get outside and reimagining pieces of wood into more useful or decorative things.
I love coming up with new ideas and teaching myself new techniques. You'll find I share these on my blog and through my social channels.
When not knee deep in sawdust or surrounded by tins of paint and wax, I enjoy spending time with my family in Cheshire (UK).

I love working with old wood; feeling its grain and noticing its cracks and knots. Something that's seemingly old and of no use can be rejuvenated and made to look special again. But it's not just wood - I now look at everything in a new light.

Holding material (wood or otherwise) for the first time is exciting - what will it become? Sometimes I have an idea I want to realise, other times the material has imperfections that need to be seen & amplified. Inspiration is everywhere.

Getting my hands dirty and splintered is what I enjoy. Frustrations occur frequently but getting a piece finished and presented well makes it all worth while. Every day brings fresh challenges and learning - building on this spurs me on.
